Willie Summers Obituary

Willie Summers was born to the late Emmanuel Summers and the late Nettie Mae Johnson Summers.
He was born on June 5, 1947 in Bowman, South Carolina. After an extended illness he was called home to be with the Lord on November 2, 2024.
He graduated from Bethune Memorial High School in 1968. He later moved to Washington, DC and employed with DC Public School System until his retirement.
Upon his retirement, he moved back to South Carolina. He joined St. Michael United Methodist Church now known as New Covenant United Methodist Church. He was a member of the United Methodist Men.
Willie enjoyed spending time with family especially visits from sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews and friends. He enjoyed watching the news, listening to
music, styling and profiling and most of all he loves to watch Young and Restless and telling jokes.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Emmanuel Summers and Nettie Mae Johnson Summers; sisters:
Leila Mae Summers, and Rebecca Randolph; brother: David Summers.
Those left to cherish his life and fond memories are sisters: Dorothy Stephens, and Mary Ann Summers of
Bowman, SC; brothers: William (Evelyn) Summers of Orangeburg, SC, Nathaniel Carson of Woodbine, New Jersey and Eric Summers of the home; sister-in-law:
Alter Summers of Bowman, SC; one adopted sister: Gracie J. Taylor Bookard of Washington, D.C; a special friend: Marva Lee of Greer, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.


The service will proceed as follows:


The viewing will be held on Saturday, November 9,2024 at Glover's Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 6:00pm.


The funeral will be held on Sunday, November 10,2024 at New Covenant United Methodist Church 705 Moss St. Bowman, SC beginning at 1:00pm. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
