Willie Roderick Haigler

Mr. Willie Roderick Haigler was born to the late Willie Roe and Whilamener Haigler on February 26, 1960 in Orangeburg, SC.  He was affectionately known as “The Rock” “Uncle Rock” and “Big Daddy O” by his friends and family.  He departed his earthly life on December 16, 2020.  The Rock was the baby and only boy of nine children.  He was predeceased by sisters Carolyn Sawyer, Joan Bradley, Lillie Mae Haigler, Mary L. Felder, and brothers-in-law Samuel Felder, Bobby Sawyer, David W. Mays, and Lawrence Hayes, Sr.  

Rock received his education from the Orangeburg Public Schools where he graduated from Bowman High School.  During his high school years, he was an outstanding athlete where he received accolades such as MVP, Player of the Year, and many college scholarships.  He furthered his education at OC Technical College.  He was employed for over 25 years at Kings Down Bedding, Heilig Myers Distribution Center, and owner/operator of WR Haigler Trucking, LLC from where he retired.     

Rock’s favorite past-times were racing cars, dancing, old school music, and being charitable to everyone.  He believed that being loving, kind, and caring to others is where your blessings come from.  He was the heart and soul of the family especially to his children, grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.  He was devoted to his sisters and was willing give his life for his family.  

Mr. Willie Haigler leaves to carry his legacy, son, William (Kisha) Haigler of Columbia, SC, two stepchildren, Willie Dash (Sonya) of Orangeburg, SC and Margie Ayers of Charlotte, NC.  He also leaves to cherish his memory his grandchildren, William R. Haigler, Roderick M. Haigler, and Kimarae S. Dash; sisters Lelia Hayes of Jersey City, NJ, Whila Dean (Carlton) Haynes of Whiteville, NC, Evelyn H. Mays and Mary L. Haigler of Orangeburg, SC, special friends Eric “Sumoe” Fulton, Rufus Kitt James, and Francis Jackson, and a host of nephews, nieces, family, and friends.  

The service will proceed as follows:

The viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 22,2020 at Glover's Funeral Home at 2:00pm until 7:00pm. 

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 23,2020 at Belleville Memorial Gardens beginning at 11:00am.
