Willidean Walker Byrd

Willidean Walker Byrd was born on September 25, 1951 in Branchville, South Carolina to the late Mr. Sollie Walker, Jr. and Mrs. Lucille Truvell Walker. She entered into eternal rest on Friday, January 22, 2021. 

Willidean graduated from Lockett High School in Branchville in 1969 and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Claflin University in 1974. She was a dedicated employee with the Orangeburg County Department of Social Services for 33 years. Her love of flowers became an unyielding passion throughout her life. 

She was united in holy matrimony to Tommy Byrd in September 1972 and to this union four children were born. She was a member of Zion AME Church in Branchville and remained a person of faith who lived her life serving others. She was never hesitant to acknowledge her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and would often quote her favorite scripture “Let not your heart be troubled.” She enjoyed listening to gospel music, audio books, and speeches by great orators. 

She leaves to cherish her husband Tommy Byrd; four children: Tommy C. (Sherita) Byrd, Jr., Dr. Tameka Byrd, Thomas T. Byrd and T’Stephanie Byrd; two grandchildren: Maiya Byrd and Jordan Byrd; three brothers: Sollie “Sugarfoot” (Janie) Walker, III, John B. (Carolyn) Walker and Dennis (Pamela) Walker; one sister: Alice “Nina” (Larry) Shuler and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and other relatives and friends.

The service will proceed as follows:

The viewing will be held on Friday, January 29,2021 at Glover's Funeral Home at 1:00pm until 7:00pm.

The funeral will be held on Sunday, January 31,2021 at Glover's Funeral Home beginning at 1:00pm.
