Vivian Tucker Obituary

VIVIAN DEBORAH TUCKER began her journey on May 29, 1953, as one of three children born to the late Deacon Nathan Mason and Frances Green Mason. She was the granddaughter of the late Reverend Charlie and Fannie Major Green. Vivian was married to the late Reverend Joseph L. Tucker. To this union two children were born, one of whom, her son, Joseph Damian Tucker preceded her in death.
Vivian was a humble, obedient, and loving woman who served the Lord with gladness. She began her Christian Journey at an early age joining Jericho Baptist Church where she served faithfully in many capacities. Her walk with God continued as she assisted her husband to fulfill God’s calling by serving as First Lady at the various churches he pastored and traveled with him serving the Baptist Church at the local, state and national levels. Vivian was an accomplished dynamic, and sought-after public speaker in her own right and was often the featured speaker at annual Women’s Day functions.
Vivian was educated in Dorchester County and a member of Williams Memorial High Class of 1969. She received her degree in Business Administration from Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College. Her employment history includes 29 years of distinguished service at AT&T from which she retired. She then joined Belk of Orangeburg where she quickly became a valued team member as well as a customer favorite. Everywhere she went in Orangeburg, she was asked when she would be returning to Belk.
The Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and self-control – all were evident in Vivian.
Those left to cherish her memory include: Ms. Lashaun L. Tucker of Orangeburg, SC; her mother, Mrs. Frances G. Mason of Branchville, SC; two brothers, Mr. Claude (Sherry) Mason of Rolesville, NC and Mr. Stephen (Freddie Mae) Mason of Orangeburg, SC; two aunts, Mrs. Carrie Gule of Dorchester, SC and Mrs. Onell Green of St. George, SC; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Joanne Preston of Brooklyn, NY; two brothers-in law, Mr. Kenneth Tucker and Mr. Michael Tucker, both of St. George, SC; her nieces and nephews – Garrick, Bettina (Raphael), Quentin, David, Zachary, Eric, Tari (Mr. Watson), Leonore, April, Michael Jr., Jermaine, Lafiesta (Mr. Taylor), Jerzee, Micah, Jayden, Tobey, Nicholas, Tari’s son, Lafiesta’s four kids; and a host of other relatives and friends including Mrs. Mary Johnson and Minister Addie Frederick who were like sisters to her.
