Vernell W. Dickson Obituary

Vernell Williams Dickson was born January 4, 1943 in Orangeburg County to the late MC Williams, and the late Annie Bell Williams. She departed this life June 13, 2024 at MUSC of Orangeburg, South Carolina. Mrs. Dickson was educated in the public schools of Elloree, South Carolina. She attended Claflin College and journeyed to New York for a few years. Upon her return to South Carolina, she began employment at Amblers Industrial, Inc. Mrs Dickson then became a caregiver for her grandmother. She was employed with Rotron, Cable Craft, until she became the Co-Owner/Operator at Fast Mart Convenience Store, Orangeburg, South Carolina. After years of dedicated service she retired.


Vernell endeared herself to all with her unforgettable sweet potato pie, leaving a lasting impression on our hearts. Her infectious smile and laughter brought joy to everyone around her. Known for her kindness and generosity, she selflessly gave to others without hesitation. Her home was a sanctuary of love, laughter, and cherished memories.


She leaves to cherish her memories her husband of fifty-nine years, Mr. Raymond E. Dickson; two daughters Ms. Deborah Middleton and Ms. Shaterrica Dickson both of St. Matthews, South Carolina; a bonus daughter Ms. Karen Crum of Rowesville, SC; one sister Mrs. Ida (John) Shivers Elloree, South Carolina; three brothers Mr. MC Williams of Vance, South Carolina, Mr. Isiah Williams of Elloree, South, Carolina, and Mr. Melvin (Joyce) Murray of Orangeburg, South, Carolina; one brother in law, Mr. Ferguson Green of Santee, South Carolina; two sisters-in-laws, Mrs Ernestine (Charlie) Larkin of Sumter, South Carolina and Ms. Deloris Glover of Bowman, South Carolina; one brother-in-law, Mr. William (Linda) Dickson Jr; four grandchildren Ms. Raven Middleton, Mr. Jordan King, Mr. Antron Williams, and Ms. Ashailyn Gleaton; bonus grandson, Mr. Jaylinn King; a host of nieces and nephews; special race tracks sons: Mr. Johnathan Williams, Mr. Jaymes Panell, Mr. Anthony McCants, Mr. Ellnose Glover, Mr. Allen Shuler, and Mr. Alfred King; Special friends Ms. Carolyn Snell, Ms. Betty Larry, Ms Helen Jones, Mrs. Mattie Fogle, and Mr. Jimmy Baxter and a host of relatives and dear friends.

 

The service will proceed as follows:


The viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 18,2024 at Glover's Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 6:00pm.


The funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 19,2024 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church 707 Arista Rd. Bowman, SC 29018 beginning at 11:00am. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
