Tommy Lee Green, son of the late Coleman and Eva Green, Sr., was born in Santee, South Carolina on January 28, 1942. He departed this life on Tuesday morning, October 19, 2021 in Columbia, South Carolina.
At an early age, Tommy became a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church in Santee, South Carolina. He later joined the fellowship at Trinity United Methodist Church in Orangeburg, South Carolina.
Tommy graduated from Roberts High School in 1962. He continued his studies at South Carolina Area Trade School (now Denmark Technical College). In 1965, he received certification in Auto Mechanics. Throughout his career he cheerfully and willingly used his skill to assist his fellowman whenever his expertise was needed. He loved people and people loved him in return. Tommy retired from Ryder Truck Rental as a Master Mechanic in 1995.
He is predeceased by four brothers; William, George, Coleman and Robert Lee Green.
Tommy will be missed dearly by his family: he leaves to celebrate his life, his loving and devoted wife Delores of the home; children, Duane Green of Lorton, VA; Daryl (Regina) Green of Middleburg, FLA, Derek (Kenya) Green, Sr. of Blythewood, SC; four grandchildren, Macy (Ulysses) of Middleburg, FLA, Kendis, Kensley and Derek Green Jr., of Blythewood, SC; one great grandchild Luna Oshun Williams of Middleburg, FLA; one brother, Morris (Linda) Green of Bronx, NY: three sisters, Vivian Avinger of Bronx, NY, Margaret Bolds of High Point, NC and Frances (Eugene) Koon of Columbia, SC; two aunts, Rhudine Sellers and Julia Thompson both of Santee, SC; in-laws, Benjamin (Georgianna) Rhodes of Orangeburg, SC, Nathaniel Rhodes of Rowesville, SC, Bernice Rhodes Dessaure of Greenville, SC, Mary Ruth Green of Santee, SC, and Theressa Green of Cameron, SC; a host of family members and friends that loved him dearly.
The service will proceed as follows:
The viewing will be held on Sunday, October 24,2021 at Glover's Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 7:00pm.
The funeral will be held on Monday, October 25,2021 at Glover's Funeral Home beginning at 11:00am. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
