A Time to Born…


Thelma Johnson was born February 10, 1940, to the late Ezekiel and Mozelle Williams.


A Time to Live…


Thelma Johnson was educated in the public schools in Holly Hill, South Carolina. At an early age, she joined Red Hill Baptist Church in Santee, South Carolina. She was a homemaker and will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Thelma loved snacking on her favorite, “a snicker bar and sprite”, while watching wrestling. She also loved dancing, shopping, listening to her favorite singer, Tina Turner and watching the television pastor, Joel Osteen. Thelma loved to smile and swing dance with her husband Tony; the love of her life, whom she was united in Holy Matrimony for 61 years. She was the life of all family and social events.


A Time to Die…


Thelma Johnson entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 19, 2021 at Bridgeport Hospital in Bridgeport, Connecticut. She was preceded in death by her two sons, Anthony and Gregory Johnson; one cousin raised as a brother: Clarence “JC” (Daisy) Oliver of Detroit, MI.

Thelma Johnson affectionately known as “Duck” leaves to cherish memories of her devoted husband Matthew “Tony” Johnson; two daughters: Patsy (Howard) Johnson of Bridgeport, CT and
Cynthia (Etienne) Adams of Augusta, GA; two sons: Willie "Goggie" Johnson of Columbia, SC and Derrick Johnson of Rock Hill, SC.; five sisters: Annie Lee (Allen) Brown of Orangeburg, SC, Virginia (Larry) Kelly of Detroit, MI, Ann Marie (Freddie) Gamble of Manning, SC, Betty Jean Williams of Stratford, CT, Janelle (Ted) Gamer of North Carolina; three brothers: Herman
Lee (Margie) Oliver (cousin raised as a brother) of Detroit, MI., Zachary (Linda) Williams of Santee, SC, Curtis (Roudine) Williams; two aunts: Hazel Lee Fogle and Bertha Oliver. Fifteen grandchildren; Sharica (Daryl) Richardson, Antione Johnson, Jermaine Adams, Corey Johnson, Anthony Dullivan, Chasity Johnson, Chiana Dullivan, Devon Johnson, Daquone Johnson, Brendin Higgins, Floraia Johnson, Tayvon Adams, Kaitlyn Adam, Jocelyn Johnson, Jamar Kraus; sixteen greatgrandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

The service will proceed as follows:

The viewing will be held on Friday, July 30,2021 at Glover's Funeral Home at 1:00pm until 7:00pm.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, July 31,2021 at Glover's Funeral Home beginning at 11:00am. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations. Service will be streamed live on our Facebook Page Glover's Funeral Home of Orangeburg.
