Stephan Harley Obituary

Stephan Datoine Harley, affectionately known as “Toine” and “Harley Boy” was born in Orangeburg County, South Carolina on April 17, 1979, to Rhonda Harley and Tony Davis. Stephan departed this earthly life on February 3, 2022, to reunite with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Stephan was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mary Julia and Ben Harley and paternal grandparents, Gloria and John Davis, Sr.

Growing up in the small town of Bowman, SC, Stephan completed his education in the public school system of Orangeburg County and graduated from Bowman High School in 1997. While in school, he excelled in various sports, most notably basketball. An all-around loving and humorous individual, Stephan remained connected to many of his childhood friends of 20 and 30+ years. After graduating, Stephan continued additional studies at South Carolina State University, Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College, Trident Technical College, and Villanova University.

He pursued a career in the manufacturing and aeronautical industries working at Blue Circle Cement, Kaufel Manufacturing, UPS, Allied Air Enterprises, Square D Company, Okonite Company, Vought Aircraft, Daks America, and Boeing Aircraft. However, after much prayer and dedication, Stephan decided to pursue his entrepreneurial dream and established Harley Boys Enterprise, LLC as the owner/operator of his own long-distance freight and automotive transporting company. But let’s not forget the job that started it all, Grill Master at Piggly Wiggly! And because of his love and passion for cooking, he was in the process of establishing Nanny Ting’s On-Site Mobile Grilling Services.

Rooted and grounded in the church, Stephan ultimately accepted Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for himself and was a faithful member of Good Hope A.M.E. Church and United Hope Ministries, The Word Church serving as Minister of Music and on the church’s Executive Board in addition to serving in various other capacities.

Grill master. Comedian. Singer. Avid and Dedicated Indianapolis Colts Fan. Fisherman. Deer Hunter. Personal Mechanic. Protective Husband and Father. A Devoted and Loving Son. A Loyal Brother. The “FAVORITE” grandchild and nephew. The coolest uncle ever! A true friend to anyone he allowed in his circle. Stephan was so many wonderful things to so many people. His laugh. His smile. His swag. His charisma. His charm. His presence was immediately felt in any room he stepped into, and his legacy will live on forever.

He leaves to continue his legacy: a loving and devoted mother, Rhonda A. Harley of Bowman, SC; father, Tony (Laura) Davis of Orangeburg, SC; his wife/high school sweetheart, Shastity Sumter Harley, of the home; children whom he adored and cherished: Shamari Harley of Charlotte, NC and Ashton Howard of Cross, SC; two brothers: his ace, confidant, and the other “Harley Boy”, LaBrian Harley of Bowman, SC, and Antonio Riley of Charleston, SC; two sisters: Brandy Primus of Summerville, SC and Courtney Cooper-Davis of Orangeburg, SC; nieces and nephew whom he helped raised: Shania, Madison, and LaBrian Jr. whom he gave the nickname “Frank”; two special cousins reared in the home: Reverend Warren (Venyke) Harley and Charlene Harley; mother-in-law, Reverend Linda Sumter of Vance, SC; father-in-law, Harry Sumter Sr. of Edgefield, SC; two brothers-in-law: Damon Sumter of Greenville, SC and Harry Sumter Jr. of Vance, SC; god-children: Joy Johnson, Lamarr Sumter, Brooklyn Smith and Zoey Green; a host of life-long friends, additional nieces and nephews, cousins, and an entire community that has been impacted by his presence.
