Mrs. Shirley Thompson was born on July 23, 1953 to the late Mary and Morgan Aiken Jr. in Orangeburg, SC. She was called to eternal rest on June 26, 2022. Shirley was educated in the public schools of Orangeburg, SC.
Shirley was a proud graduate of South Carolina State University where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She went on to complete a Master’s Degree from the University of South Carolina. Shirley served as an educator for 25 years, touching the lives of many students.
She was an avid member of Brown Chapel AME (Cameron, SC) where she served in various ministries. Shirley loved the outdoors and would spend hours fishing, hunting, and gardening. She also enjoyed traveling and attending baseball games. Her time at home was spent with family and friends and cheering on her Pittsburgh Steelers.
She leaves to cherish her fond memories her loving husband David Thompson Sr., Two Daughters: Aldray (M.C.) Reed and Cynthia Hubbard; Three sons: Terrance Jordan, Earnest and Henry Hubbard; Two Step-Daughters: Deirdra Lee and Jasmine Caldwell; Three Step-Sons: Eric (Cynthia) Thompson, Patrick (Donna) Thompson, and Kevin Thompson; Eighteen grandchildren: Tony Green, Isis and Daja Jordan, Shai (Lester) Mays, Kyhara and Ayanna Hubbard, Desane Jr., DeLonte, and DeVonte Mitchell, Jamari Lee, Dohnte, Devhonte, Zion, Cannan , Kevon’dre, Janiah, Kalen, and Kaiden Thompson; 9 great-grand children; Four sisters: Gloria (Freddy) Jones, Darlene Sellers, Christine Ranson, Marian Watson; Nine brothers: Marvin (Sandra) Aiken, Roger (Debbie) Aiken, Jimmy Aiken, Thurmond Aiken, Johnny Aiken, Allen (Virginia) Aiken, Morgan (Tomoko) Aiken III, Daniel (Crystal) Aiken, and Donnie (Keisha) Aiken; Five Sisters-in law and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and other relatives and dear friends.
The service will proceed as follows:
The viewing will be held on Saturday, July 2,2022 beginning at 10am at Glover's Funeral Home.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, July 2,2022 at Glover's Funeral Home beginning at 11:00am . All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
