Shelia L. Dowling-Ash

Shelia L. Ash, daughter of the late Washington and Lillie Mae Dowling was born on September 8, 1952 in Blackville, South Carolina. Shelia departed this life on April 9, 2020 at Providence Hospital. 

At an early age, she joined Macedonio Baptist Church in Blackville, South Carolina. Shelia was educated and graduated from the Blackville Public School System. She was employed by the South Carolina State University. 

She was preceded in death by 4 sisters, 2 brothers, 1 daughter Lakisha Dowling, and 1 son Keio Dowling. 

She leaves to cherish a beloved husband Henry Frank Ash, 3 daughters, Matecia (John) Thomas of El Paso Texas, Latrell (Emaine) Hinton of West Columbia, Ebony Benjamin of Orangeburg South Carolina, 5 sisters, Elouise(William) Harley of Blackville SC, Joanna Snaders of Atlanta Georgia, Patricia  (Carl) Logan of Blackville SC, Lillie Mae Dowling of Norway SC, 3 brothers John Lewis (Marty) Dowling of Brooklyn NY, Herbert Dowling of Blackville SC, Leslie Dowling of Aiken SC, 1 brother-in-law Jerry Fyke of Clarksville TN, 1 sister-in-law Lillie Dowling of Charleston SC. A host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends, and 5 step kids Jerome (Tonya) Ash of Willston SC, Racquel Ash of Barnwell SC, Nikki (Cody) Greene of Aiken SC, Chris Ash of Charleston SC, Kisha Badger of Aiken SC, 13 grandchildren, and 3 great-grands.

The service will proceed as follows:

The viewing will be on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at Glover's Funeral Home at 1:00pm until 7:00pm.

A private service will be held on Thursday, April 16,2020 at Glover's Funeral Home beginning at 12:00pm.
