Our beloved Shateria’ Yahnee’ Albright, affectionately known as “Teria” made her heavenly transition on Monday, May 19, 2025 at Prisma Richland Medical Center in Columbia, South Carolina.
Shateria’ was born on August 22, 1990 to Faith Albright Washington and Marvin Albright, Sr. in Bridgeport, Connecticut. She moved to South Carolina at the tender age of 10 months old along with her mother and brother to care for her great-grandparents, the late-Willie and Janie Lee Polite.
Earlier in life, Shateria attended her grandparents’ church, Bibleway Church of God In Christ in Stamford, Connecticut. When she moved to South Carolina, she began attending Jacob’s Temple, Church of God In Christ in Tillman, South Carolina. She later began attending Bowman Temple, Church of God In Christ in Bowman, South Carolina. In 1998, she became one of the founding members of Spiritual Foundation Minis-tries in Orangeburg, South Carolina, and continued her membership until her departure from this earthly realm.
Her education began at Ridgeland Elementary School in Ridgeland, South Carolina. She began kindergarten at Bowman Elementary in Bowman, South Carolina. She later transferred to Marshall Elementary School in third grade. She continued her education at New Hope Christian School and graduated in 2008. She enrolled at Orangeburg Technical College and later transferred to Charleston Southern University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and a minor Psychology.
Shateria lived a life of love and light. She was full of joy and always found ways to serve others. As a young girl, she was active in the South Carolina Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ. She started in the Sun-shine Band and later took part in AIM —not just at her local church, but also at the district, state, and national levels. She also enjoyed being in spelling bees and other church activities, always doing her best and encour-aging others to do the same. She served Spiritual Foundation Ministries faithfully as a member of the Praise and Worship team, the Praise Dance troupe, the Media Ministry and helped with the Youth Ministry.
Shateria lived a full and fun-filled life. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, eating out, designing and wearing nails. She loved people and loved good singing. She was a part of several choirs and was known for support-ing and attending gospel musicals and concerts. She moved by the beat of her own drums and was a fashion-icon in her own right. She would put her make-up and lashes on in the car, in a hospital bed, at the doctor’s office and during dialysis.
Shateria began her medical journey before she was born, her birth and life was literally a miracle. She was born with Turner Syndrome and from there her hospitalizations and health issues continued. Even as a child, her faith and belief in God’s healing power never wavered. She was diagnosed with Glomerulonephritis at 10 years old. She was later diagnosed with Hungry-born disease along with Heart and Lung diseases. Even through all the diagnosis and all the health issues she moved through the world as a living testimony that her God was a healer and a sustainer. Despite the discouraging prognoses, Shateria lived decades longer than the doctors projected. She created a blog on Facebook called “Dialysis Chronicles”, where she shared her story with honesty and hope. Many people who were going through the same struggles found comfort and strength in her words. Her kindness and courage made a big difference in their lives.
