Ruby Mae Johnson

Ms. Ruby Mae Johnson, was born on April 16, 1947 in Orangeburg, South Carolina to the late Mr. Robert Johnson, Jr. and Mrs. Alline Sprinkle Johnson. She entered into eternal rest and peace on Saturday, November 25, 2023 after a brief illness. She was the granddaughter of the late Kating Sprinkle, Sr., Anna Myers Sprinkle, Robert Johnson, Sr., Emma Mintz Johnson, and Pearlie Sistrunk Johnson.
At an early age, she was a member of Nazareth United Methodist Church. She later became a member of Bethany Full Gospel Church. She accepted the call to the ministry and was ordained a minister under the ministry of the late Apostle Lelia B. Wims. She continued to have a love for God and remained faithful to God under the leadership of Evangelist Mozella B. Isaac.
Ruby was educated in the public schools of Orangeburg County, graduating from Wikinson High School in 1965. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in 1969 from Claflin College with a degree in Mathematics, where she graduated Cum Laude. She later received her Masters of Education Degree from South Carolina State College in 1977.
Ruby was employed by Orangeburg School District #7 (Elloree High School). She was named 1991-92 District Teacher of the Year for Orangeburg School District Seven. She retired after teaching for 30 years.
She was preceded in death by four sisters: Emma Johnson Davis, Louester Johnson, Rebecca Johnson Odom, and Sarah Johnson Baxter.
Ruby is survived by two sisters: Elease Johnson and Anna Ruth (Curtis) McLendon all of Orangeburg, South Carolina; two brothers: Clay E. (Shirley) Johnson of Orangeburg, South Carolina and Allen (Marva) Johnson of Greenville, South Carolina; one brother-in-law: Mr. Edward Odom of Orangeburg, South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and other loving relatives and wonderful friends.
Ruby's life, her concern for others, and her words of wisdom and encouragement have touched and influenced many lives. Ruby's legacy will live on in the lives of those she loved.
The service will proceed as follows:
The viewing will be held on Thursday, November 30,2023 at Glover's Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 6:00pm.
The funeral will be held on Friday, December 1,2023 at Bethany Full Gospel Church 692 Glenzell Rd. Orangeburg, SC 29115 beginning at 2:30pm. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
