Ms. Ruby Garrick Douglas was born on May 14, 1946 to the late Frank Cecil Garrick and Lillian McDonald. She entered into eternal rest and peace on Friday, October 9, 2020 at her residence following a brief illness.
Ruby attended G.W. Carver High School in Cope, SC. She later relocated to Brooklyn, NY where she graduated and lived for many years.
Ruby began her career with the Environmental Control Board in 1980. She became a supervisor and retired after 31 years of service. While in New York, she met and married the love of her life, Harry Douglas.
Upon returning to South Carolina, Ruby attended Calvary United Methodist Church which later became Edisto Fork United Methodist Church.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, Harry Douglas, Jr. and Clarence Douglas, and grandson, Larell Dwayne Douglas.
Ruby leaves to cherish her fond memories, three daughters, Beverly (Abraham) Blyther and Cynthia Douglas, both of Cope, SC, Frances Govan of Brooklyn, NY; two sons, Cecil Douglas of Neeses, SC and Michael Douglas of Belgiran, NY; one sister, Evelyn (Ronald) Frazier, of Cope, SC and one brother-in-law, Ernest (Mary) Frazier of Brooklyn, NY; 22 grandchildren, which one reared on the home, Marcus Johnson; six great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives that will miss her dearly.
The service will proceed as follows:
The viewing will be held on Friday, October 16,2020 at Glover's Funeral Home at 2:00pm until 7:00pm.
The funeral will be held on Saturday,October 17,2020 at Glover's Funeral Home beginning at 2:00pm.
