Rosa Mae Williams Syphrett Obituary

Rosa Mae Williams Syphrett was born February 22, 1937, to Ms. Alice Lee Walker and Mr. James Williams, Sr. in Branchville, SC. She attended Dunton Elementary and graduated from Orangeburg Wilkinson High School 1975 in Orangeburg Adult Education Program. She worked at Orangeburg District Five at Howard Middle School as a Cafeteria Worker for 20 years.
On February 8, 1956 she married Isreal Syphrett, Orangeburg, SC. With their union God charge them to raise Rosa’s two younger sisters April and Linda as their own daughters and Isreal’s godson Mr. John Henry Allen. Being a mother of three was a challenge for the newlyweds, but with God’s help and her prayers she succeeded in accomplishing goals for their new family. She has four grandchildren; Tangie, Wiley, Antwan, and Terrell. She enjoyed numerous accolades, graduations, and awards from her family of spring from her 54 years of marriage.
Rosa Mae, loved St. Stephen United Methodist Church and she enjoyed being a member of the Gospel Choir, where she was a charter member. She also, was a member of the Senior Choir and the Orangeburg Choir Union where she was the secretary until it disbanded. Rosa Mae was a member of the Gold Star Committee and later became a Chairwomen for this committee and a part of The United Methodist woman now known as the United Women in Faith. Before coming to St. Stephens United Methodist Church. She was a member of Olive Grove Baptist Church. She was an avid reader and experienced soul food cook for the family. She made her delectable treats and savory dishes from scratch! God has blessed her to have received a myriad of trophies, plaques, and awards from serving in different capacities within the church and community.
Rosa Mae, was preceded in death by her parents, Ms. Alice Lee Walker and Mr. James Williams, Sr, her husband Mr. Isreal Syphrett, two brother’s Leon (Bubba) Williams (Lillian) and Leroy (Coot)Williams (Christine), one sister Patsy Williams, one brother-in-law, Mr. John V. Wright, and a set of twin nephews (Christopher Derrell and Khristian Jerrell Fredrick). She leaves behind two daughters Mrs. April R.F.Wright (John Wright Deceased) Orangeburg, SC, Ms. Linda K. Fredrick (Columbia, SC), and godson Mr. John Henry Allen (Peggy), Atlanta, Ga, and five grandchildren; Mrs.Consuela T. Wilds-Lewis (Alvin Lewis, LTC (RET)), Augusta, Ga, Mr. Elijah S. Wilds (Payton), St. Louis MO, Mr. Isreal A. Wilds (Sumter, SC), and Mr. Antonio T. Fredrick (Columbia, SC), and Mr. Vester L. Wright (Charleston, SC) seven great-grandchildren; Ms. Dondrea R. Lewis (Fayetteville, NC), Mr. Miles L. Lewis (Fayetteville, NC), Ms. Lanaysia D. T. Wilds, Master Julien A. Wilds, Mr. Quency Wilds, Mr. Naquan Wilds, Master Antonio Jerrell Lee, and a host of nieces, and nephews, cousins, and friends.

The service will proceed as follows:

The viewing will be held on Sunday, March 24,2024 at Glover's Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 6:00pm.

The funeral will be held on Monday, March 25,2024 at St. Stephens United Methodist Church 4500 North Rd. Orangeburg, SC 2118. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
