Reverend Willard Sylvester Sabb, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leroy (Burnell) Sabb, was born on August 4,1952 in Orangeburg, South Carolina. He departed this life on October 10,2020 at The Regional Medical Center of Orangeburg, South Carolina.
Willard, affectionately known as “Vest” by many, was educated in the Orangeburg County public school system. After high school, he enlisted into the United States Army. Upon returning home, he enrolled and graduated with honors from Vorhees College with a degree in Business Management. He was employed by Belk Department Stores for over 20 years where he became the top salesman in the southeast. While employed with Belk, he was called into the ministry and has served as Pastor of Warren Chapel Baptist Church for over 20 years. He had a great sense of humor and many hobbies to include fishing, playing checkers, and reading. He also loved cooking! Above all things he loved, he had a great love for his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, a second mother Mrs. Dorothy Sabb; a second father Mr. Ben Smith, and two siblings: Mr. Leroy “Bubba” Sabb Jr. and Mrs. Francis Hilliard.
He will be deeply missed and leaves fond memories to be cherished by his children, two daughters: Mrs. Allison (Marcus) Glenn or Orangeburg, SC, and Ms. Courtney Luellen of Greensboro, NC; two sons: Mr. Jabbar (Jai) Swinton of Chula Vista, California, and Mr. Gabriel (Khaylan) Evans of Chula Vista, California; two sisters: Ms. Janie Green of Orangeburg, SC and Ms. Gloria Fisher of Baltimore, Maryland; nine grandchildren: Jamella, Asia, Jamell, Jaylena, Madison, Riley, Jackson, Elizabeth, and Gabriel Jr.; two lifelong best friends: Mr. Marshall Smith and Mr. Stephen “Bullet” Martin, a host of nieces, nephews, and other special relatives and friends.
The service will proceed as follows:
The viewing will be held on Friday,October 16,2020 at Glover's Funeral Home at 1:00pm until 7:00pm.
The funeral will be held on Saturday,October 17,2020 at Warren Chapel Baptist Church 950 Five Chop Rd. Orangeburg,SC 29118 beginning at 11:00am.
