Rebecca Viola Summers Randolph was born August 4, 1949, in Orangeburg County (Bowman, SC) to the late Emanuel and Nettie Mae Summers. She entered eternal rest peacefully at home surrounded by her loving children and family on Tuesday, November 8, 2022.
Rebecca was an active member of St. Michael UMC (now New Covenant UMC) until graduating from Bethune Memorial High School in 1968. She them moved to Brooklyn, New York and joined Brooklyn Tabernacle Church. There she met and married the love of her life, the Late Nathaniel Randolph Sr., and was married in December 1968. During this union, 7 children were born: Six boys and one daughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her father and mother. Sons: Nathaniel, Jr., Jermaine, and Joshua. Grandson: Tylan Randolph. Sister: Lelia Mae Summers and Brother: David E. Summers.
Rebecca was self-employed. She was a caterer and owner of Rebecca’s Soul Seafood. She loved to cook and served others; Rebecca also was founder of “The Lord’s Kitchen at New Covenant UMC. She was kind and love to tell jokes.
She leaves to cherished fond memories four children: Jackie (Shona) Randolph of Delaware, Isaiah Randolph of Orangeburg, Jeremiah Randolph of Bowman, and Joy Randolph of the home. Three grands reared in the home: Jaquan Garvin, Elijah Reed and Zipporah Reed. Four brothers: Willie (Ruth) Summers of Georgia, William Summers and Eric Summers of Bowman, Nathaniel Carson of New Jersey. Two Sisters: Dorothy Stephens and Mary Ann Summers of Bowman. Adopted Sister: Gracie Johnson T. Bookard of Washington, DC. Grandchildren: Ashley Green, Nyeisha Ingram, McKayla Brown, Schyuler Randolph, Jedidah Randolph, Joel Randolph and Joshua K. Randolph.
Sister & Brother-in-laws: Alter Summers, Emanuel (Janie Mae) Randolph, Mazie (Reginald) Lawrence, Joan (Franklin) Howard, Bessie (Percy) Fludd, Mike (Eartha) Randolph, Clemson (Brenda) Randolph and Richard (Janice) Randolph and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The service will proceed as follows:
The viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 16,2022 at Glover's Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 7:00pm.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, November 17,2022 at Glover's Funeral Home beginning at 11:00am. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
