Raymond Walters Obituary

Raymond was born December 5, 1928, in Bowman, SC to Theoff Walters and Eva Johnson. He entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. 
Raymond came to recognize that military service was not just an option, but his true calling. Driven by a strong sense of duty and purpose, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he served with distinction and commitment. Throughout his time in the Army, Raymond’s dedication and performance earned him multiple awards and commendations, including the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, and a Meritorious Unit Citation—each reflecting his contributions, professionalism, and honorable service.
In 1963, he made a profound commitment to his faith by becoming baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, marking the beginning of a lifelong dedication to spiritual service. From that point forward, he became widely respected for his tireless preaching work, sharing his beliefs with conviction, compassion, and unwavering devotion.
Raymond is preceded in death by George Walters (Brother) Rosa Smithzer (Sister) Marylee Thomas (Sister) Wesley Walters (Brother) Charlie Walters (Brother) Dorothy B Hughes (Sister) and Mattie L Walters (Sister).
Those he leaves to cherish his fond and loving memories are his loving and devoted wife: Bertha Davis-Walters, Step- Daughters – Lorraine Jenkins and Karolyn Branham, Step-Son Nathan Smith, Sisters-in-Law – Artlee Byrd, Jestine Davis, Ernestine Davis-Williams, and Mattie Summers, Nephews – Tyrone Davis, Dondrell Davis, Rodney Bird, Kelvin Bird, Antoine Bird, Keith Bird, Isaiah Walters, John Myers, Barry Smithzer, Edward Smithzer, George A. Walters and Timothy Walters. Nieces – Chris Parker, LaTashia Davis, Shanta Williams, Ivadella Walters, Marian Walters, Margie Myers, Saundra Saldana, Barbara Walters. Loving Granddaughter: Keafay Benjamin, Loving Neice: Towana Harding and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.


Funeral arrangements are as followed: 


The viewing will be held on Tuesday, April 21,2026 at Glover's Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 6:00pm. 


The funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 22,2026 at Glover's Funeral Home beginning at 11:00am. Burial will be held on Thursday, April 23,2026 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery with Military Honors.
