Deacon Raymond Richardson affectionately known as “Buck” 80, transitioned peacefully from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Friday, April 7,2023. He was born to the late Reddick Richardson, Sr. and Sallie Reed Richardson on August 30,1942 in Orangeburg, South Carolina.
Raymond gave his life to Christ at an early age at Antioch Baptist Church where he maintained an active membership until his health declined. He served on the Trustee Board, Senior Choir, and was presently serving on the Deacon Board.
Raymond attended the public schools in Bowman and graduated from Bethune Memorial High School in 1961. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and then National Guard with honorable discharge after serving 23 years. He then moved to New Jersey.
Raymond career began as a New York City Bus Driver for 21 years. He later returned to Bowman where he worked for Orangeburg County as a Detention Officer. He then served in several capacities with Orangeburg County as a Deputy Sheriff and Court Bailiff. He was a member of the St. Johns Masonic Lodge #2 as a Past Worshipful Master.
Raymond is preceded in death by his father: Reddick Richardson, Sr.; his mother: Sallie Reed Richardson’ one sister: Annie L Washington and four brothers: Willie, James, Lamar and David Richardson.
Raymond leaves to cherish his precious memories: his devoted and caring wife: Priscilla Richardson of Bowman, SC; four sons: Alvin (Cynthia) Richardson of Olive Branch, MS, Ray Allen (Kristina) Richardson of Spencer, NC, Gregory (Lidia) Porter of East New Brunswick, NJ, Richard Frink, Jr. of Whiteville, NC; four daughters: Sharon (Dwayne) Mason of Sterling, VA, Sheila Chisolm of Whiteville, NC, Bonnie Washington of Charlotte, NC and Darlene Sharperson of Columbia, SC; 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, two sisters: Thelma Richardson of Brooklyn, NY and Lessie Gwathney of Surprise, AZ; one brother: Reddick (Mildred) Richardson, Jr. of Bowman, SC; father-in-law: Moses Porter of Regielwood, NC; four sister-in-laws: Pearl Brown Richardson of Columbia, SC, Doreen (Billie) Snowten of Whiteville, NC, Danita Page of Trenton, NJ, Danette Ward of Regielwood, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A special friend Freddy Pelzer.
The service will proceed as follows:
The viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Glover's Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 7:00pm.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, April 13,2023 at Glover's Funeral Home beginning at 9:00am. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
