Peggie Lawton-Stroman Obituary

Peggy Stroman was born in Orangeburg, South Carolina, and lovingly raised by her devoted parents, the late Eddie and Isabelle Lawton. A woman of faith, service, and strength, Peggy touched countless lives through her kindness, dedication, and unwavering love for family and church.
Peggy received her formal education in Orangeburg and was a proud graduate of Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School. Following high school, she relocated to Washington, D.C., where she furthered her education in culinary arts. Upon completing her training, Peggy returned home to Orangeburg, South Carolina, where she began a career of faithful service and later retired from South Carolina State University as a Culinary Assistant.
Peggy was a woman deeply rooted in her faith. She served as a loyal and devoted member of Greater Faith Baptist Churchfor more than 20 years, where she faithfully supported numerous ministries and church organizations. Later, she continued her spiritual journey at St. Paul Baptist Church, where she remained actively involved.
At St. Paul, she served on several committees and was a longstanding, dedicated member of both the St. Paul Mass Choir and the NCGCC Choirs, lifting her voice in praise and worship.
Peggy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Stroman, and her cherished son, Cleveland Sanders.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory her three daughters: Yolanda Sanders (Atlanta, GA), Wendy Jenkins (Pittsburgh, PA), and Lorraine Lawton of the home.
She is also survived by three grandsons, five granddaughters, one great-grandson, Se’Khani Sanders, and two greatgranddaughters, Amara Reid and Aivah Jenkins, all of whom will miss her dearly.
Peggy’s legacy of love, faith, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.


The service will proceed as follows: 


The viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 11,2026 at Glover's Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 6:00pm.


The funeral will be held on Thursday, February 12,2026 at St. Paul Baptist Church 2259 Rowesville Rd. Orangeburg, SC 29115 beginning at 11:00am.
