Paul Lavern Zimmerman was born to Robert Zimmerman, Sr. and Eva Mae Mack Zimmerman in Bowman, South Carolina August 20, 1959. He entered into eternal rest at his home on April 18, 2025.
Paul was affectionately known as “Wen” by his family. He enjoyed making people laugh, playing basketball, walking, and watching the San Francisco 49ers, his favorite football team.
Paul graduated from Bowman High School in1977. He was a hard-working and dedicated employee and demonstrated these qualities at various companies throughout his working life which included Johnson Controls, Deffen Baugn Disposal, Johnson’s Garbage Service, all in Columbia, SC and H. T. Hackney, Orangeburg, SC.
Paul met and married Nancy Johnson in 1992. After the death of his mother, he returned to Bowman to live in the family home and reunited with his Mt. Zion Baptist Church Family where he served diligently in the Usher’s Ministry until his death. He loved children and would often bring snacks to share with them at church.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Robert Zimmerman, Jr. Cherishing his memories are his wife of 33 years, Nancy Zimmerman; son, Christopher Paul Hammond; sisters, Cynthia Riley and Andrea (Michael) Foreman; two Uncles, Deacon Leroy (Martha) Zimmerman and Earvin Smith; five aunts, Dorothy Zimmerman, Ella Mae (Ron) Moskowitz, Mae Ella (Emmanuel) Notoma, Barbara Zimmerman, Donnis Zimmerman and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The services will be held as followed:

The viewing will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at Glover's Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 6:00pm.

The funeral will be held on Friday, April 25,2025 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church 707 Arista Rd. Bowman, SC 29018 beginning at 11:00am. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
