With profound sadness and heartfelt gratitude for a life richly lived, we celebrate the life and legacy of Mr. Oscar C. Mack, who peacefully departed this life on June 15, 2026, at the age of 90.
Born on January 11, 1936, in Orangeburg, South Carolina, Oscar was a man of faith, integrity, leadership, and service whose influence reached far beyond his family and community. Throughout his life, he exemplified excellence in education, civic engagement, spiritual devotion, and mentorship.
Oscar began his educational journey at Milbranch Elementary School and Wilkinson High School in Orangeburg, South Carolina. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Physical Education from Claflin College and later attended Atlanta University, where he completed studies in Personnel and Guidance.
His professional career was marked by a commitment to helping others and leading by example. He worked at Ethel Chemical Plant in Orangeburg, South Carolina, and Watkins Sash Company in Brooklyn, New York. He later returned to higher education, serving as Dean of Men at Claflin College and Assistant Dean of Men at South Carolina State College. His career also included successful ventures as a painting contractor and a supervisory role with American Koyo Bearing Manufacturing Company.
A distinguished leader in Freemasonry, Oscar devoted decades of service to the Most Worshipful National Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Ancient York Masons, Prince Hall Origin National Compact of the U.S.A. During his tenure, he held numerous prestigious offices, including Senior Warden, Deputy Grand Master, Assistant Grand Recorder, and Grand Master. His wisdom, vision, and leadership earned him the respect and admiration of Masons throughout the nation.
His memberships and affiliations included Blue Lodge, Royal Arch Masons, Knights Templar, Consistory, Shriners, Supreme Council 33, Order of Eastern Stars, Heroines of Jericho, Amaranth, Crusaders, and Daughters of Isis. He also served as an Advisor to the National Children’s Defense Fund Advisory Board and as an Underwriter with Primerica Financial Services. His affiliations also include membership in Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated.
A devoted servant of God, Oscar faithfully worshipped at Butler Chapel A.M.E. Church, where he served as Class Leader and Vice President of the Steward Board. His love for gospel music was evident throughout his life as a member of the Senior Choir, founder and director of the United Voices of Center Hill and Limestone Circuits Mass Choir, a member of New Holy Light, and a Gospel Recording Artist. Through song and ministry, he uplifted countless lives and shared his unwavering faith.

Oscar enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, baseball, basketball, football, and singing. However, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family, encouraging young people, and serving his community.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Fred Mack and Mrs. Freda S. Mack, his siblings Rev. James Mack and Mrs. Catherine M. Gregory. His children, Mr. Clifton David Alfred Mack and Ms. Shelli Mack Fields.
Mr. Oscar C. Mack leaves behind a legacy of love through his devoted wife, Mrs. Essie H. Mack; his beloved children, Sherri (Paul) Robinson, Kelvin (Virginia) Mack, and Christopher (Teresa) Mack; daughter-in-law’s Ms. Katherine A. Mack and Ms. Deshun Mack. Mr. Oscar C. Mack is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, friends, fraternity brothers, church family, and community members who will forever cherish his memory.
Oscar C. Mack’s life was a testament to faith, leadership, service, and love. His impact will continue to be felt through the many lives he touched, the institutions he strengthened, and the family he cherished.

The viewing will be held on Friday, June 19,2026 at Glover's Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 6:00pm. 

Masonic Rites will be held on Friday, June 19,2026 at Glover's Funeral Home from 6:00pm until 7:00pm. 

The funeral will be held on Saturday, June 20,2026 at Butler Chapel AME Church 5727 North Rd. Orangeburg, SC 29118 beginning at 12:00noon.
