Nancy Ryant Rivers Obituary

Nancy “Henrietta” Ryant Rivers, the daughter of the late Wayrod “Babe” Ryant and Nancy “Hun” Johnson Ryant was born on December 5, 1953 in Norway, South Carolina. Nancy was called from labor to reward on Sunday February 19, 2023.
Nancy was educated in the public schools of Orangeburg County and received her high school diploma from Northfield High School in Norway, SC. At an early age she joined Canaan United Methodist Church in Cope, South Carolina where she attended faithfully and served as an usher for many years.
Throughout her lifetime, she was employed at Stone Sewing Company for over 20 years, and she worked as a Caterer Assistant at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg until she retired. Nancy was a loving and kind person. She had unwavering love for her sons and grandchildren. In her free time, she also enjoyed line dancing with the Smooth Steppers of Edisto Drive Line Dancers. She attended practice every Wednesday and attended events with the group where they performed different line dances.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers: John “Moot” Ryant and Melvin “Jimmy” “Macadoo” Ryant all whom she loved dearly.
Those left to cherish her sweet memories are: two sons, Damon Rivers of Okeechobee, FL and Richard Rivers of Cope, SC; three grandchildren, Lorenzo Rivers, Kamari Rivers, and Rilynn Rivers, all of Orangeburg, SC.; four siblings, Lessie Mae Grant of Norway, SC; Leroy “Cudda” (Deloris) Ryant of Orangeburg, SC, and Carey “Nuna” (Patricia) Ryant of Cordova, SC.; a loving sister-in-law, Linda Marie Ryant of Cope, SC; three aunts: Lucille Miller of Maryland, Bessie Johnson of Laurens, SC and Bernice Ryant of Charlotte, NC; as well as a host of loving and caring nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.

 

The service will proceed as follows:

The viewing will be held on Friday, February 24,2023 at Glover's Funeral Home from 4:00pm until 8:00pm.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, February 25,2023 at Canaan United Methodist Church beginning at 2:30pm. All those attending must wear mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
