The Obituary

“For I am now ready to be offered, and my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight; I have finished my course. I have kept the faith…” Timothy 4:6-7

Cloria M. Parler Goodwin, a loving wife, devoted mother and faithful Christian was called to her heavenly home on April 28, 2023. Cloria as she was affectionately known, was born October 11, 1948 in Orangeburg, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Lucille Parler Green.

Cloria began her early Christian training at Brown Chapel AME Church in Elloree, South Carolina. She received her early educational training from Wilkinson High School. Upon graduating she attended Drake College of Business, Newark, New Jersey, 1968 earning a degree in Business Management.

Cloria was united in Holy Matrimony to Harry Goodwin for fifty-four years. This union bore two sons, Corey Goodwin and the late Allen Goodwin.

Cloria then became a devoted employee of Connie Maxwell Boys Home, Mellichamp Elementary School, and Dawn Center of Orangeburg, South Carolina for many years. Afterward she worked at Revco Drug Store now CVS. Catering was a passion of hers and she did faithfully all these years until her health failed.

Cloria loved people and did whatever it was she could to help. She played an integral part in her community helping somebody on this journey of life whether in the drug store or school or wherever. She carried out her service to all tasks in a caring and determined manner.

Cloria was a dedicated member of the Women’s Missionary Society, Daughters of Sarah, First Lady Organization and Food Services.

Cloria was preceded in death by her mother, Lucille Parler Greene, son Allen Goodwin and brother Charles Darnell Mills.

Those left to cherish fond memories of Cloria Parler Goodwin are his loving and supportive husband, Harry Goodwin and one son, Corey Goodwin (Michelina) of Jacksonville, Florida, daughter Jacquelyn Robinson-Goodwin of Blythewood, SC; a sister, Vernon Parler of Orangeburg; grandson, Octavian Goodwin of Blythewood, SC; two great granddaughters- Heaven Goodwin of North Augusta, SC; Erin Goodwin of Elgin, SC; six sisters in-law- Becky Goodwin, Thelma Mohammed, Martha Goodwin, Brooklyn, NY; Shirley Bartley, Staten Island, NY; Lucille McMillan, Gadsden, SC; and Victoria (Wilbur) Cline, Greenville, SC; and one brother in-law Beverly Wells of Gadsden, SC; two Aunts Ida Mae Corbett, Columbia, SC; and Janie Aiken, Orangeburg, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 

 

The services for Mrs. Cloria Goodwin will proceed as follows:

The viewing will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023 at Glover's Funeral Home from the hours of 1:00pm to 7:00pm.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Brown Chapel African Methodist Church, 195 Browns Chapel Road, Elloree, South Carolin 29047 at 1:00pm.
