Mother Clara Harrison Obituary

Mother Clara Hanna Harrison was born to the late Clarence and Mary Rogers Hanna in Williamsburg County. She departed from this life from labor to reward on May 17, 2025 at her residence with her daughter by her side.


Upon finishing school, Mother Clara left the small town of Hemingway, SC to work in New York. She met and married the late Thomas “TJ” Harrison. Mother Clara was an exemplary and employee for many years with J. Walter Thompson (JWT) Global Advertising Agency in NY, NY until her retirement in 2001.


She later relocated to Orangeburg, SC. Mother Clara was also an exemplary member at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church; were she was the Mother of the Church, the Pastors Aide Ministry, Missionary Ministry and served as the treasurer until 2024, a member of Orangeburg Orthodox Baptist Association, and the President of the senior choir.


Mother Clara enjoyed studying Gods word, going to Council in Aging, being the first to join the Prayer line every Thursday evening, traveling with The Ladies of the Mount, Thanksgivings in Myrtle beach with the Harrison/Myers family and going to various events with her sister/sister in law Blanchie Harrison, or outings with her daughter Joyce and granddaughter Contrina.


She even enjoyed her grandson Charles being her personal chauffeur. She adored her little sister Rosa Cooper and when her great granddaughters Carmoni, Damiyia, and Jhyzia would come by and spend time with her.


Mother Clara is preceded in death by her parents, a son Gregory Harrison, a stepdaughter: Patricia Mack her siblings Charles, Sylvia, and Edna, and a grandson Raheim Harrison.


Those left to cherish her fond memories her children: a son Anthony “Chopper” Harrison of Bronx, NY and a daughter and caregiver Joyce “Raine” Harrison of the home; Grandchildren: Contrina Harrison, Russell (Shaniece)Harrison, Tyesha Jackson, Charles Mcfadden, Latesha Harrison, Kenyetta (Shelton) Heyliger, Latasha White, Warren Jackson, and Deotis Mcfadden; 15 great grands with one RaAsia Jackson of the home; siblings Rosa Cooper, Mattie (James) Gibert and Charlie Williams; A daughter in law: Charlene Harrison; In Laws: Deacon Wilbert (Blanchie) Harrison, Evernell Kelly, Juliet Brown, and Richard Harrison; Two special nieces: Tonia (Willie Berry) and Sasha; special nephews: Kevin(Lisa) Flegler, Charles Cooper, and Earl (Charlene) Hanna; her best friend Leather Taylor, and her adopted son Pastor Michael (Nicole) Shackleford; Barr family, and a host of other family and friends.


The service will proceed as follows:


The viewing will be held on Saturday, May 24,2025 at Glover's Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 6:00pm.


The funeral will be held on Sunday, May 25,2025 at Mount Sinani Missionary Baptist Church 258 Hickson Dr. Orangeburg, SC 29118 beginning at 1:00pm. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
