Melvin "Ricky" Stokes, Jr.

Mr. Melvin Stokes, Jr. affectionately known as “Ricky” to his family and friends, was born December 18, 1952 in Branchville, South Carolina to the late Melvin and Mary Jane Stokes. He departed this earthly life on May 27, 2020.

 
Melvin received his education at Lockett High School Branchville, South Carolina. Melvin joined Jerusalem Holiness Church at an early age and later joined the House of God Church, Branchville, South Carolina. He later attended the Divine Care Ministries under the leadership of  Bishop Cleveion Ferguson. 

Melvin’s early employment began with Dean Dempsey Lumber Company for many years. He was later employed by North American Container. 

Melvin was preceded in death by  his parents; Melvin and Mary  Jane Stokes; a son; Melvin Crockett, two sisters; Minnie Lee Stokes and Roberta Butler. 

Those left to cherish his precious memories include; his daughter, Denise Wright; four grandchildren, Aam’Bria Duley, Quanisha Duley, Debonte Duley and Carrie Thomas; two sisters, Emma Jennings and Shirley Crosby, Branchville, South Carolina; one brother, Roscoe (Linda) Stokes, Cordova, South Carolina; six aunts, three; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends, that will miss him sorely.

The service will proceed as follows:

The viewing will be held on Monday,June 1,2020 at Glover's Funeral Home at 1:00pm until 7:00pm.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday,June 2,2020 at Williams Church Cemetery @ Emanuel AME Church Hudson Rd. beginning at 11:00am.
