Maxine Austin was born on July 24, 1947 to Florie Mae Stevenson and the late John Luther Stevenson, Sr. Maxine entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, after an extended illness.
Maxine was a 1967 graduate of Wilkinson High School. She was a member of New Light Methodist Church and then started attending Full Gospel Holiness Tabernacle #1 Church. She was a mother, daughter, sister, a servant and above all a friend to all she encountered. Throughout her career while employed 25 years at American Yard Products (AYP) she served in many different capacities; all of which she was loved and respected by everyone she met.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Luther Stevenson Sr.; two sisters Essie S. Jennings, Linda Evans, and one brother, John Stevenson, Jr.
She would have been married to the late Samuel Austin for 54 years.
Maxine leaves to cherish a daughter, Sonya (Willie Ray) Dash; one granddaughter Kimarae Dash, all of Orangeburg; her mother, Florie Mae Stevenson of Cordova SC; and four sisters, Maggie (Arthur) Dantzler, Alice (Mike) Simpson, Catherine (Wayne) Woodyard, all of Orangeburg, SC, Pearline (Robert) Brown of Sickelville, NJ; two uncles: Rev. John (Dorothy) Ritter of Orangeburg, SC; and General (Janet) Ritter, Jr of Killeen, TX; two brothers-in-law: Booker T. Jennings of Orangeburg SC; Benjamin (Jessie) Austin of Cambria Heights, NY., and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and family
The service will proceed as follows:
The viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 12,2024 at Glover's Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 6:00pm.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 13,2024 at Glover's Funeral Home beginning at 11:00am. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
