Mary Kelly Fogle daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert(Pecola) Pelzer Kelly was born June 29,1950 in Bowman,SC. She departed this life on February 7,2020.
Mary was a graduate of Bethune High School of Bowman,SC where she was a gifted basketball player. She was also active in her church Antioch Baptist Church Bowman,SC. Mary political activist, a member of the NACCP and chairman for the Emancipation Proclamation committee where they issued countless number of awards to those striving toward unity in this community state and natiion during the Civil Rights movement. SHe furthered her education at Claflin College in Orangeburg,SC where she received her B.S. in Education and South Carolina Staet which is also located in Orangeburg,SC and obtained her Master's in Education. Mary had a genuine compasson from others, in which she devotedly displayed through her work as an Educator in Bamberg,SC and Orangeburg School District 5 as a teacher and the assistant principal. She also was a member of Alpha Omicron Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. Mary has traveled numerous places across the United Staets.
Mary was preceded in death y her parents and four brothers, Robert Shuler, Nathaniel Kelly, Rodger Kelly and Aubry Kelly.
She leaves to cherish fond and precious memories, her daughters Olvette Merell Gordon and Sophoronia Butler. Three granddaughters: Jessica, Carrington and Evenon Butler; one grandson: Sammie Lee Gordon, III all resides in Orangeburg,SC; one sister: Carolyn Rice of Norwood,New Jersey and one brother Elle B Kelly and one sister-in-law: Linda Kelly both of Englewood,New Jersey and a host of nieces, nephews and relatives. Also her caregivers Ms. Essie Pauls, Ms. Bennie Mae Franklin and Mrs. Diane Pelzer along with the Regency Hospice and Grove Park Pharmacy Hospice.
The service will proceed as follows:
The viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 12,2020 at Glover's Funeral Home at 1:00p.m. until 8:00p.m.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 13,2020 at Glover's Funeral Home beginning at 11:00am.
