Mr. Marvin Maurice Felder, affectionately known as Jimmy, was born May 23, 1951, in Orangeburg, SC to the late Edna Mae Stevenson and reared by Ben and Annie B. Felder. On December 2, 2023, God called his sweet soldier to eternal rest at MUSC health in Orangeburg, South Carolina.
Marvin was a 1969 graduate of Wilkinson High School in Orangeburg.
At an early age, Marvin accepted Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior. He joined Warren Chapel and later moved his membership to Faith Tabernacle Deliverance Temple with his wife.
Marvin met the love of his life, Linda Louise Cobbs in high school. Their lovely union was blessed with forty-nine years of a beautiful marriage and two daughters. This relationship was an example of a great courtship that led to an inseparable, strong bond that cannot be broken.
After high school, Marvin was a hard, dedicated worker at Sunbeam Bakery for thirty-eight years and retired. Marvin’s next adventure was working part time at the Riverbank Zoo and Garden, in Columbia, South Carolina. He really enjoyed the excitement of this job. Marvin made sure his children and grandchildren visited him at the zoo.
Marvin exemplified being a hard worker, by being consistent and by being dedicated. He was a quiet and a patient gentleman.
He was truly a strong family man, never complained and strong willed. Some of his enjoyments were fishing, cars, going to the movies, watching Sy-Fy, traveling and enjoying his children and grandchildren. He would gleam with pride to know everything his grandchildren are accomplishing. The summers were all about the grandchildren. He would say,”where are we traveling to next.
Marvin will truly be missed, and leaves a legacy of loved and cherished memories to a devoted wife, Linda L Felder; loving dedicated children Marlisa (Michael) Andrews of Statesboro, Georgia and Angelia Felder (special friend, Barry Hill) of Columbia, South Carolina; four grandchildren; Christopher Baxter of Columbia, South Carolina; Mikayla Andrews of Morrow, Georgia; Jekiah Young, Savannah, Georgia; Barry Hill of Columbia, South Carolina; one sister, Abigail Williams, Brooklyn, New York; Uncles Mr. Melvin Felder of Chandler, Arizona; Mr. Ben (Ruth) Felder of San Antonio, Texas; sister-in-law Sandra (Samuel) Lee of Newborn, Georgia; brothers-in-law, Frank Cobbs,Jr, Thomas (Valerine Cobbs), Sr., John (Linda) Cobbs, and Tyrone ( Kathy) Cobbs all from Orangeburg, South Carolina, Kevin (Anjelica) Cobbs of Summerville, South Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
