Marion “Sonny Boy” Capers was the seventh eldest of ten children born to the late Hazel McCord Capers and the late Freddie Capers Sr. He was born on August 17, 1959 in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Marion entered into eternal rest on December 9, 2022 following a brief illness at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg, SC.

He attended the public schools in Orangeburg, S.C where he received a certificate in brick masonry and dry wall a very good handyman, and he would always help anyone in need. He never met a person he didn’t like, he loved and got along with everybody.

He was preceded in death by his father, Freddie Capers Sr., mom, Hazel M. Capers, and two brothers, Freddie Capers Jr. and Franklin Capers.

He leaves with fond memories: his significant other Mary Chisolm of the home, two special loving daughters, Shymika (Deterrio) Young of Rockhill, S.C, and LaLisa General of Columbia, S.C. Four sisters, Betty (Phillip) Calhoun of Hodges, S.C; Francis Joyce Keitt of Orangeburg, S.C, Carolyn (Antonia) Shuler and Shirley Capers of Orangeburg, S.C. Four brothers, Willie (Pearlie deceased) Capers of Columbia, S.C, Samuel Capers of Orangeburg, S.C and Anthony (Angelica) Capers of Lexington, S.C. One uncle Nathaniel Rush of White Plains, N.Y. One sister in law, Mariam T. Capers, Two brother in laws Phillip Calhoun and Antonia Shuler. A host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Sonny loved to beautify his home and garden but his specialty was being a dry wall finisher.

The service will proceed as follows:

The viewing will be held on Thursday, December 15,2022 at Glover's Funeral Home from 4:00pm until 8:00pm.

The funeral will be held on Friday, December 16,2022 at Glover's Funeral Home beginning at 11:00am. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
