Margaret Riley Obituary

Margaret S. Riley daughter of the late Tommy Scott and Lillie Mae Brown Walter was born on December 16,1947. She departed her early life and entered her heavenly home on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. Margaret was educated in the Bowman, South Carolina school system where she attended Bethune Bowman.
Margaret worked at Bocart Sewing Industries for many of years, as well as Ambler Sewing Industries. She also worked at South Carolina State College as a Dorm Mother of Battiste Hall.
At an early age Margaret joined Mt. Olive AME Church where she served on numerous organizations. She was also affiliated with Edisto Fork United Methodist Church and Good Shepherd Community Ministries. She was the president of The Older Adult Ministry, Member the Sound and Praise Choir, A Member of the Women Ministry Bible Study Scholar and a Member of the Couples and Singles Ministry.
She was preceded in death by her husband Marion Riley, father Tommy Scott, mother Lillie Mae Brown Walters, brothers Melvin Scott, Bobby Scott and Anderson Scott.
Margaret leaves to cherish her memories three children: Samuel (Tina) Fogle, Margaret Sherman all of Orangeburg, SC and Bobby Hutchins, PA; three sister: Pearlie Scott of Linden, NJ, Laura of Newark, NJ, Angela Johnson of Charlotte, NC; two brothers: Bruce Johnson of Charlotte, NC and Terry Walters of South Carolina; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, four bonus grandchildren, one bonus daughter, 1 aunt, 1 uncle, 3 sister in laws, several special friends as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives.

 

The service will proceed as follows: 


The viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 13,2025 at Glover's Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 6:00pm. 


The funeral will be held on Thursday, August 14,2025 at Good Shepherd Community Church 1178 Five Chop Rd. Orangeburg, SC beginning  at 1:00pm.
