Lorraine Patricia Anderson Obituary

Lorraine Patricia Starkes Jones Anderson's journey through life was one filled with love, resilience, and deep connections. She was born on August 6, 1941, in the picturesque town of Orangeburg, South Carolina to her loving mother Ms. Bernice Starkes.

Lorraine's life took a profound turn when her mother married Fraymond Jones, Sr., making her their beloved and cherished only daughter. Growing up in Orangeburg, South Carolina, Lorraine attended Zion Public School System and later graduated from Wilkinson High School.

After completing her education, she ventured north in search of new horizons and opportunities. In bustling New York City, Lorraine found fulfillment working for the United States Postal Service, first as a mail handler and later as an administrator. She applied the same hard work and dedication to her life, and her heart found its match in Otis Anderson. They married and soon welcomed their son, Stephon Rinaldi Jones, into the world on January 2, 1961.

After a successful career as a working mother, Lorraine retired with honor in 1992. Following retirement, she made the heartfelt decision to return to Orangeburg to care for her mother, forging a deep bond that brought them even closer.

Affectionately known as "Sweet Lorraine," she was cherished for her compassion and gentle spirit. Lorraine's unwavering warmth and kind heart remained steadfast even as she confronted her own health battles after the passing of her mother, finding comfort and support through faith, prayer, family and the unconditional love of a compassionate caregiver. That support, the passing of her son years later, and the care that she received while residing at Jolley Acres Healthcare Center became her guiding light during her final days.

Lorraine Patricia Starkes Jones Anderson peacefully departed this world on May 1, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever be cherished by her family, friends, and all those who had the privilege to know her. Her unwavering warmth, determination, and kindness will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched for a long time to come.
