Lorena Fuller Obituary

REVEREND LORENA BROWN FULLER, 75, of Orangeburg, passed away on February 25, 2020. She was born on February 2, 1945 in Rains, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Lee Carroll Brown and Lillie Mae McMillian Brown of Rains. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Lee Carroll Brown of Washington, D.C. and Fred Brown of Rains, South Carolina. She is survived by three sisters; Mary Ebron of Tampa, Florida, Camila Owosela of Washington, D.C. and Cora Brantley of Rains. 

She graduated from Terrell’s Bay High School in Rains and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Claflin University. She met Dr. Joseph W. Fuller III of Orangeburg, South Carolina and they married December 16, 1971. Together they raised three children; Dr. Jennifer L. Fuller of Cincinnati, Ohio, US Navy Retired Gas Turbine System Electrical (SW) Chief Petty Officer Joseph W. Fuller IV (Joey) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Janice R. Groves of Rock Hill, South Carolina. 

Rev. Fuller was a retired elementary school teacher who taught hundreds of students. She taught at Bowman Elementary, Marshall Elementary and Felton Laboratory Schools. She was known for her honesty, fairness and refusal to let students slack off.

She had a deep love and devotion to the church since childhood. This motivated her to attend seminary and earn her ordainment through the African Methodist Episcopal Church. She was an integral part of the ministerial staff at Williams Chapel AME Church. She taught Sunday School, served as the Worship Leader for the Shepard’s Corner soup kitchen, and was a member of the Women in Ministry in the Orangeburg District of the Central South Carolina Annual Conference. She was known for her kindness and willingness to help others.

In addition to her spouse, children and siblings, she leaves behind: grandchildren Brandon Daniels of Austin, Texas, Joseph W. Fuller, V of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Skylar Groves of Rock Hill, South Carolina; daughter-in law Angela M. Fuller of Virginia Beach, nieces Kimberly Bennett, Carlita Stroman, Karen Proctor, and Tamika Brown; nephews Allen Fuller, Rodney Bennett, Boris Brown and Jamie Brantley, and a host of relatives and close friends. 

The service will proceed as follows:

The viewing will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Glover's Funeral Home at 2:00 until 8:00 p.m.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 2, 2020 at Williams Chapel AME Church 1198 Glover Street Orangeburg, S.C. beginning at 11:00 a.m.
