Larry David Fridie Obituary

Mr. Larry David Fridie, affectionately known and loved by many, was born on December 29, 1961, in Bowman, South Carolina. He was the beloved son of the late William “Bob” Fridie and Mary Frances Fridie. On August 20, 2025, Larry peacefully entered into eternal rest.
Larry received his formal education in the public schools of Bowman, South Carolina, and later attended Orangeburg Technical College, where he earned his certification in Machinery. During his years at Bowman High School, Larry distinguished himself as an exceptional athlete. Whether on the football field or the baseball diamond, his remarkable talent, dedication, and competitive spirit made him a local legend. His name echoed throughout the community—when Bowman High took the field, all you heard was “Larry Fridie.” His athletic ability, leadership, and sportsmanship left an unforgettable mark on his school and hometown.
He leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his memory his loving fiancée, Ms. Charlotte McMillan of Orangeburg, SC; eight children, Dontrece (Tangee) Summers of Columbia, SC; Adrian Fridie and Larry Fridie of Bowman, SC; Charess Fogle of Orangeburg, SC; Quincey Bellamy of Cope, SC; La’Aisha Fridie, Brittany Summers, and Niasia Baker, all of Orangeburg, SC.
He also leaves to honor his memory eight sisters: Barbara (Robert) Bowers of Upper Marlboro, MD; Christine Fridie of Gambrills, MD; Wanda Fridie of Bowman, SC; Brenda (Charles) Dixon of Brooklyn, NY; Patsy Armstrong, Phyllis Manior, Caroline (Samuel) Campbell, of Fayetteville, NC; and Marylin Fridie-Wolfe (late Ernest Wolfe) of Columbia, MD. Two brothers: William Fridie, Jr. of Gibson, SC, and Leon Keith of Brooklyn, NY.
Larry’s legacy continues through his nine grandchildren: Trinity Fridie, Emoni Sellers, Lyn’Zarion, Zay’Lyn, Jae’Lyn Mack, Nyvia Diaz, Kaiden Bellamy, Ja’Khi Fridie, and Harper Summers. He will also be remembered fondly by a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.
Though Larry has departed from this earthly life, his spirit, love, and the memories he created will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew him.
