Josephine Palmer Mack was the daughter of Mary Palmer and the late Joseph Palmer of Orangeburg, SC. She was born on April 12, 1954 in Orangeburg County. She departed this life on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Palmetto-Richland (Prisma Health) Hospital in Columbia, SC.
Josephine attended Orangeburg public schools and received her diploma from the first integrated Class of 1972 of Orangeburg Wilkinson High School. After graduation, she attended Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College.
Josephine joined Cedar Grove United Methodist Church at a young age. After holy matrimony she joined North Orangeburg United Methodist Church (NOUMC) where she served as an usher faithfully until her health declined. She was also a member of the Jolly Seniors Ministry at NOUMC.
Josephine retired from American Yard Products (AYP) in 1995, after many years of employment. Upon retirement she managed The Quality Plumbing Business.
Josephine also served as a voter registration clerk for Orangeburg County Voter Registration.
Josephine leaves to cherish her fond memories: her devoted loving husband, Nathaniel I. Mack of forty-six years; two sons, Xavier (Carolyn) Mack (Columbia, SC); and Jonathan (Shaquana) Mack (Fuquay-Varina, NC); two sisters, Catherine (Artie) Major (Orangeburg, SC); and Georgia Mae Jefferson (Orangeburg, SC); one brother, Reverend Steven (Connie) Palmer (Orangeburg, SC); one brother-in-law, Charles (Blundean) Mack (Orangeburg, SC); three sisters-in-law, Mildred M. Banks (Newark, New Jersey); Christie Mack (St. Mathews, SC); Elaine (Reverend Walter) Harley (Orangeburg, SC); two granddaughters, Abryona Mack (Columbia, SC); and Jade Mack (Fuquay-Varina, NC); two grandsons, Zauron Mack (Columbia, SC); and Kai Mack (Fuquay-Varina, NC); one uncle, Reverend Pinckney (Shirley) Palmer Jr. (Orangeburg, SC); two aunts, Bessie Braxton (Columbia, SC); and Cheryl Butler (Blythewood, SC); two step-daughters, Minece Bowman and NaLanda Mack (Orangeburg, SC); and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
The service will proceed as follows:
The viewing will be held on Tuesday, September 20,2022 at Glover's Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 7:00pm.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 21,2022 at North Orangeburg United Methodist Church 106 Kinard St. Orangeburg, SC 29115 beginning at 11:00am. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
