John H Waymer Obituary

Mr. John Henry Waymer was born in Orangeburg, South Carolina on May 25, 1948 to the late Albertha and Dempsey Waymer.
John graduated from Bethune Memorial High School in 1966. He then joined the United States Air Force in 1968 and dedicated 20 years of service receiving numerous medals and accolades. John retired as a Master Sergeant at the grade of E-7. Then, to begin a new journey, he worked at U.S. Army Base Fort Jackson in South Carolina as a maintenance technician. At his location, he worked for 18 years and then retired in 2016.
He was the former husband of Emma Gilliard Waymer. They were blessed with two children, Jerard and Jennifer.
John had a charismatic and charming personality. He was a person who would listen and give input to help others. He enjoyed going fishing and being a handyman.
At an early age, John, attended Andrew Chapel located in Orangeburg where he gave his life to the Lord. He later became a member and served faithfully for the remainder of his life.
He was one of eight children. Four preceded him in death. Sisters: Earth Greene, Willie Mae Waymer, brothers: Elter Waymer, Sr. and Joseph L. Waymer.
He leaves to cherish fond and loving memories his children Jerard Waymer, Angel (Jennifer) Waymer; grandchildren, Kiyanti Durr, Darnell Waymer, Jazmyne Waymer, Jordan Waymer, and Jason Campos; siblings, Lillie Kennedy, Walter Waymer, Isadore Waymer, Sr.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends.


The service will proceed as follows:


The viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 23,2022 at Glover's Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 7:00pm.


A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 25,2022 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery beginning at 9:00am. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
