John Byron Pinkney was born on April 8, 1978 to Jo Helen Baker and John Tresvant in Orangeburg, SC. He departed this life February 22, 2022 in Orangeburg, SC.
He attended Rivelon Elementary and Brookdale Middle Schools in Orangeburg, SC. He also attended Merriweather High School in North Augusta, SC. He attended High School in Bowman, SC and graduated from Midland Valley High School in Graniteville, SC.
He briefly attended Claflin College before deciding to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Navy in 1997. He served for eight years including tours of duty in Afganistan (Post 9/11) and Operation Enduring Freedom. After being honorably discharged in 2005, he had careers in hospitality, entertainment, animal husbandry and retail.
John was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John and Ida Mae Baker, paternal grandparents, John and Lottie Tresvant.
He is survived by his mother, Jo Helen Baker of Orangeburg, SC; father, John W. Tresvant of Washington, DC; sister, Courtney L. Simpkins, North Augusta, SC, brother, Leon B. Simpkins, North Augusta, SC; brother, Steven L. Pinkney, Sophia, NC, Isaiah M. Tresvant, Washington, DC; great-aunt Lila Holman; special aunts, Reverend Johnnie L. Shuler, Rock Hill, SC; Ethel M. Green, Orangeburg, SC; uncle, Reverend Robert L. Shuler, Rock Hill, SC and a host of cousins, uncles, and close friends.
The service will proceed as follows:
The viewing will be held on Friday, March 4,2022 at Glover's Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 7:00pm.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 5,2022 at Glover's Funeral Home beginning at 11:00am. All those attending the service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
