John Allen Felks

On Tuesday morning, January 26, 2021 at his home in Bowman, SC, Mr John Allen Felks was called to his heavenly home. John, better known as "Tot", was born on August 2, 1941 in Orangeburg County to the late Mrs. Bernice (neè) Davis Felks and Mr. Samuel Felks. He attended the public schools of Orangeburg County and graduated from Bethune Memorial, class of 1960. John was the proud proprietor of Bowman Cleaners for more than 40 years, making sure that the community was at their very best for every occasion. John was an active member of Union Hill Baptist Church where he was ordained as a Deacon in 1986. After leaving Union Hill in 1999, John became one of the founding members of Eleventh Hour Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board. He also served his community as a member of the Masonic Lodge #4 until his declining health. John was first married to the late Anna Vernell (neè Sweat) Felks (1943-1998) during which they were blessed with a son, John Wesley Felks. John was blessed with a second wife in 2000 and married Lauree (neè Young) Johnson Felks whose union included step-son Alexander Johnson, step-son-in-law Andrew D.R. Glover IIII, and step daughters Antoinette (neè Johnson) Glover and Collette Johnson. John is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Eloise (neè Felks) Glenn, 2 brothers Samuel Felks and Manza Felks, and a daughter Rose Felks. John leaves behind to cherish his loving memory, his wife Lauree, his children John Wesley, Daryl, Alex, Toni, Collette and son-in-spirit Alphaquan Sweat. He also leaves behind a sister, Hazel (neè Felks) Alvin Davis of Orangeburg, SC, two brothers Robert Felks of Bowman, SC and Jimmie (m. Vera) Felks of Branchville, SC and a host of grand children, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.  It goes without saying that John was a true fisher of men and a great example of a child of God and will sorely be missed.

The service will proceed as follows:

The viewing will be held on Monday, February 1,2021 at Glover's Funeral Home at 1:00pm until 7:00pm.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 2,2021 at Eleventh Hour Baptist Church Cemtery 6342 Old State Rd. Holly Hill,SC 29059 beginning at 11:00am.
