Jessie M. Myers

Jessie Mae Johnson Myers was born in Bowman, South Carolina on November 23,1930 to the late Grace McDaniel Johnson and Henry Johnson. Jessie departed this life and made the inevitable journey home on October 11,2023 at Prisma Health Hospital in Columbia, SC.

Jessie joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church at an early age. She later moved her membership to New Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Jessie educational journey took her through Orangeburg County Schools.

Jessie worked for years at the Walter Reed Veteran Hospital in Washington, DC and then Dorn Veteran Hospital in Columbia, Sc.

Jessie was joined in holy matrimony to the late Soloman Myers, Jr. and to this union four children was born.

Jessie preceded in death by her husband: Soloman Myers, Jr.; her parents: Grace McDaniel Johnson and Henry Johnson; a sister: Eleanor; two brothers: Alfred and Henry.

Jessie leaves to cherish her fond memories two daughters: Cynthia Myers of Columbia, SC and Minnie Myers of Bowman, SC; two sons: Edward Myers and Thomas Myers both of Columbia, SC; two aunts: Georgia Kelley and Gladys Mitchell both of Washington, DC; one daughter-in-law: Sidney Bates Myers of Columbia, SC; eight grandchildren: Gary, Minesha, Antonio, Kayla, Kris, Mayah, Marquis and Jaylen; four great-grandchildren: Christian, Maryssa, Morgan and Kamari; a special family friend: James Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends that will miss her dearly.

The service will proceed as follows:

The viewing will be held on Saturday, October 21,2023 at Glover's Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 6:00pm.

The funeral will be held on Sunday, October 22,2023 at Glover's Funeral Home beginning at 2:00pm. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
