Jessie Mae Jones

Jessie Mae Stevenson Jones was born on November 5, 1932 to late Essie Mae Wright Stevenson Jennings ad P.D. Stevenson. Jessie entered into eternal rest on Thursday August 27, 2020. 

Jessie attended public schools in Orangeburg County. She was a faithful lifetime member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where she served on the Missionary Ministry, Mass Choir, Pastor Aide Ministry, Women Auxiliary, Christian Burial Association and Prestigious Mother of the Church. 

She lived and worked in the New Jersey and Florida for a number of years. Upon returning to South Carolina she was employed by Kirkland Dry Cleaners and she eventually after 27 years she retired from Husqvarna formally Roper Industries. After retirement she was a dedicated employee at OCAB Senior Companion Program until her death. 

Jessie had a big sense of humor and always kept you laughing. She had a kind spirit, a warm welcoming smile and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She was affectionally known as “Aunt Jessie” or “Mother”. She enjoyed fishing, reading, traveling, attending church and talking to her friends. 

She was proceeded in death by her husband Mike Jones and her brother John Luther Stevenson. 

Jessie leaves to cherish her memories a loving sister-in-law Floria Mae Stevenson of Cordova, SC; Nieces Maxine Austin, Maggie (Arthur) Dantzler, Alice (Mike) Simpson and Catherine (Augustus) Woodyard, all of Orangeburg, SC; Pearline (Robert) Brown of Cheltenham, PA; a nephew Booker T. Jennings of Cordova, SC. A special and devoted friend Lillie Jennings. Three generations of nieces and nephews.

The service will proceed as follows:

The viewing will be held on Tuesday, September 1,2020 at Glover's Funeral Home at 12:00pm until 7:00pm.

The service will be held on Wednesday, September 2,2020 at Glover's Funeral Home beginning at 11:00am.
