Mr. Jerry Alvin Sweeper was born on August 2, 1958, in Bowman, South Carolina, to the late David Sweeper Sr. and Rebecca Johnson Sweeper. He peacefully departed this life in May 2026 in Bowman, South Carolina.

Jerry attended public school in Bowman, South Carolina, and was a proud graduate of Bethune-Bowman High School, Class of 1976. During his school years, he was an active member of the school band, where he played the tuba. After graduation, Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Army and later continued his education at Columbia College.

Following his military service, Jerry built a successful career in the trucking industry, a profession he truly enjoyed because it allowed him to travel and experience the open road. Throughout his career, he hauled flatbed, refrigerated, and dry van freight, dedicating many years to the profession. Through his hard work, determination, and entrepreneurial spirit, he later founded and owned his own trucking company, BADS Trucking, lovingly named after his youngest daughter Beckeyia—a reflection of the deep love and pride he had for his family.

Jerry was a devoted member of Spiritual Foundation Ministries, where he served as an ordained Elder. A firm believer and a follower of God’s Word, he was passionate about sharing his faith and always encouraged others through ministry.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, David Sweeper Sr. and Rebecca Johnson Sweeper; his beloved son, Jerry Delmar Sweeper; two brothers, Daniel Sweeper and Samuel Sweeper; one sister, Betty Sweeper-Simmons; and one niece, Paris Sweeper.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving wife, Pamela Sweeper; three devoted daughters, Takenya Sweeper of Jonesboro, GA, Shaneak (Reginald) Lyons of Fairburn, GA, and Beckeyia Sweeper of Orangeburg, SC; six beloved grandchildren, Keyara, Charlotte, Makiyah, Juliayanna, Uriah, and Tobias; one sister, Dr. Delphine (Benjamin) Mack of Bowman, SC; two brothers, Andrew (Betty) Sweeper of Orangeburg, SC and David Sweeper of Bowman, SC; a special niece, Erica Bradley-Jones; special nephews, Oquindo Sweeper, and Andre Sweeper; three aunts, Zula Johnson of Pensacola, FL, Thomasina Johnson of Birmingham, AL, and Pearline Brandenburg of Orangeburg, SC; two uncles, Joseph Brandenburg and Samuel Johnson of Orangeburg, SC; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
