Life Reflections
Jerome “Jerry” Geathers of Orangeburg, SC entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, August 08, 2023, in Simpsonville, SC surrounded by beloved family. He was the son of Joseph Wiggins and Thelma Bookard and Hollis Wesley, who raised him.
Jerome was preceded in sleep by Joseph Wiggins, Thelma Bookard, Hollis Wesley, and his sister Joleta Williams.
Jerome worked for the United States Postal Service for over 38 years where he drove a tractor trailer. He was a member of St. Peter AME Church.
Jerome was an avid sports fan and car enthusiast. He enjoyed watching his favorite teams the San Francisco 49ers, Carolina Gamecocks, and the New York Mets. He also loved to laugh and smile and never met a stranger. Jerome was very proud of his two sons and wasn’t shy about telling anyone about them. He also coached youth baseball for the Orangeburg Recreational Department. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, especially his newest grandson. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his two sons, Jerome (Giovanna) Geathers of Simpsonville, SC, Jason (Tyeisha) Geathers of Atlanta, GA, his sister Jacqueline D. Wesley-Rosa of New York, his stepfather John Bookard of Orangeburg, SC, his step brothers Ronald Zeigler, Reginald Bookard, and John L. Bookard Jr. of Maryland, his three grandchildren Jordan, Morgan, and baby Maverick Geathers; his aunt Ann Lee of Brooklyn ,NY, his niece Hollisa Rosa of Brooklyn, NY, his nephews James J. Rosa & Franklin Rosa of New York, his cousins Carl (Candice) Lee of Pennsylvania, Janetta “Liz” Brunson of St. Matthews, SC; and a host of other cousins, relatives, and friends.
Services for Mr. Jerome Geathers will proceed as follows:
The Viewing will be Wednesday, August 16, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Glover’s Funeral Home Chapel.
The Funeral Service will be Thursday, August 17, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Greater Saint Peter African Methodist Episcopal Church, 7892 Old State Road, Cameron, South Carolina.
Staff and all those attending must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
