Jennie Googe Obituary

Mrs. Jennie Bell Googe, affectionately known as “Sis. Frances McMillian”, was born to the Late Clifford & Celia Fogle Glover on December 2, 1943 in Bowman, SC. She received her education in the Bowman County School District. During her many years of working, she was employed by the Indian Field Campground, Bamberg Cotton Mill, also known as Bamberg Textile Mills and Denmark Technical College.

Sis. McMillian was an Ordained Evangelist at Bowman Temple Church of God in Christ. During her years of service in ministry she served on the Hospitality Board, Choir, Pastor’s Aide and Kitchen Committee. She later moved to Augusta, Georgia where she joined Friendly Church of God in Christ under watch care. After the death of her daughter, Mrs. Deborah Googe Cleckley, known as “Tiffany”, Sis. McMillian moved to Orangeburg, SC and returned to her church, Bowman Temple COGIC. There, Sis. McMillian continued serving faithfully until she received her wings.

Sis. McMillian was joined in holy matrimony on March 1, 1964 to Mr. Joe Googe. They were like “Two Peas in a Pod”; when you saw one, you were sure to see the other. Sis. McMillian and her Husband of 56 years enjoyed serving God, worshiping in church and spending quality time with their family and friends.

On Monday, February 24, 2020, God called Sis. McMillian to eternal rest. She was preceded in death by her Daughter, her Son, her Parents, five Brothers, two Sisters and her Longtime Friend Ella Mae Crawford.

Sis. McMillian leaves to cherish her memories and legacy of love: her Husband, Joe Googe; three Sons, Johnnie Glover, Earnest (China) Googe and Anthony Googe; one Son-in-law, Bernard Cleckley; one Aunt, Gladys Fogle; one Sister-in-law, Mary Ann Glover; thirteen Grandchildren; nineteen Great-grandchildren, one Great-great-grandchild, four Godchildren and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Other Relatives and Friends.
