Mrs. Janie M. Brown, 87, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, SC. She was born on August 23, 1935 to the late Laura and Jake Bookhardt.
Mrs. Brown joined Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Santee, SC at an early age. In 2009, she later joined Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Orangeburg, SC where she was affectionally known as “Mother Brown”.
Mrs. Brown is preceded in death by her husband, RD Brown; daughter, Barbara E. Brown; a brother, David Bookhardt; two sisters, Lucille Moore and Esther Blanding; a grandson, Anthony C. Brown; and a granddaughter, Tameka S. Brown.
She leaves to cherish her fond memories of her children, Herman (Brenda) Brown of Cordova, SC, Geraldine Johnson of Columbia, SC, and Timothy (Karen) Brown of Orangeburg, SC; a sister, Virginia Johnson of Orangeburg, SC; a brother, BJ Bookhardt of Elloree, SC; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Two sister-in laws, Ella Mae Whiteside of Orangeburg, SC and Mulvenia Fairnot of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends, and one special daughter, Oneatha Williams, all who will miss her dearly.

The service will be held as follows:

The viewing will be held on Tuesday, February 7,2023 at Glover's Funeral Home from 2:00pm until 7:00pm.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 8,2023 at Glover's Funeral Home beginning at 11:00am. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
