James Edward King, affectionately known as “Bubba,” was born on February 22, 1962, in Orangeburg, South Carolina, to Johnny Blease King and Victoria King. He peacefully passed away on December 16, 2025, leaving behind cherished memories and a lasting legacy of laughter, strength, and individuality.
James was a proud graduate of Orangeburg Wilkinson High School in Orangeburg, South Carolina. After graduation, he answered the call to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Army, where he served with pride and dedication.
Known as the life of the party, James lived life unapologetically and on his own terms. He had a natural ability to light up any room he entered, bringing smiles, laughter, and genuine connection wherever he went. He never met a stranger and formed lasting friendships everywhere he traveled. With pride and humor, he affectionately referred to himself as “Top Dog,” a title he wore boldly and made sure everyone knew.
James leaves to cherish his memory his loving daughter, Shamekia Williams; his beloved grandchildren, Sa’Myni Jefferson and Sa’Mauri Jefferson; his loving sister, Johnnie Mae Watson; his cherished brothers, Victor King (wife Michelle) and Robert King (wife Rose Mary); and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
James Edward King will be remembered for his vibrant spirit, his service to his country, and the joy he brought to all who knew him. His legacy lives on through the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the love he gave so freely.

The viewing will be held on Monday, December 22,2025 at Glover’s Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 6:00pm.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 26,2025 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery beginning at 1:00pm.
