Jaesyn Corteni Burns

On August 24, 1980 Cecelie and Henry Burns gave birth to an 8lb 7oz baby boy at Brunswick Hospital on a Sunday afternoon in Amityville, NY. She named him Jaesyn Cortnei. Over the years, Jaesyn was described as the child who was scared of everything and a “mama’s boy”.

In the summer of 1990, the family moved to South Carolina, where Jaesyn attended school in St. Matthews. He graduated from Calhoun County High in 1999. Jaesyn was always the life of the party. Friends often referred to him as “Casanova” because he was such a lover of the ladies, but to family, Jaesyn was known as a gentle giant! He was a lover of the arts, known for his poetry and love of music and dancing. In the fall of 1999, he went off to attend the Art Institute of Atlanta, in Atlanta, GA. But he always did things his own way, and in 2002 he left the school and returned home to pursue other passions, including voice over acting.

Upon returning home, Jaesyn met Melissa Rivers and the two dated briefly before saying “I do” in October 13, 2006. The two had a son on May 12, 2008, Jaesyn Cortnei Burns Jr. Jaesyn was also a devoted father to J’lynd Rivers. He loved his boys more than anything.

Jaesyn leaves behind to mourn his mother, Cecelie Wingfield of the home, his brother, Chauncey Burns of the home, his sister, Chaiquan Wingfield of Jersey City, NJ, his sons, Jaesyn Burns Jr. and J’lynd Rivers of Atlanta, GA. His uncles Mr. Clarence (Lois) Washington of Amityville, NY, Mr. Terrence Crosswhite of Virgina, Mr. Kevin (Brenda) Washington of Covington, GA and his aunt, Tanedra Washington of Columbia, SC. He additionally leaves to mourn his passing many cousins, relatives and friends.

The service will proceed as follows:

The viewing will be held on Thursday, July 22,2021 at Glover's Funeral Home at 5:00pm unitl 7:00pm.

The funeral will be held on Friday, July 23,2021 at Glover's Funeral Home beginning at 2:00pm. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
