Jacob "Jake" Ammonds

“The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. Psalm 23:1 

Deacon Jacob (Jake) Ammonds was born on February 16, 1946 to Marie Thompson Ammonds and George Ammonds, Sr. in Orangeburg, SC. He attended the Orangeburg County Public Schools. Mr. Ammonds entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at The Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Jacob was the youngest of 14 children. 

Jacob Ammonds was married to Lorene W. Ammonds and they have two children, Courtney M. Ammonds and Javin A. Ammonds of the home. 

Jacob sereved as the deacon at Supernatural Praise Ministries under the leadership of Prophet Elder Joseph Grant, Sr. 

Jacob worked at the Orangeburg Regional Hospital for many years. He later moved to New York and worked at The Menorah Home and hospital for a number of years. Jacob moved back to Orangeburg and worked at Claflin College in the Physical Plant. He retired after nine years of service. Mr. Ammonds was affectionately called Mr. Jake. He would witness to the students about Jesus and encourage them to finish schol and do their best. 

Deacon Ammonds loved the Lord with his whole heart because he allowed the Lord Jesus to become his Savior. He was a missionary at heart. He visited the nursing homes in Orangeburg and surrounding areas. He took his bible with him every where he went. He served at many local ministries in Orangeburg. Jacob was an inventor artist, excellent cook and a man of order. 

Jacob was preceded in death by six sisters and seven brothers. He was the youngest and last of his siblings. 

He leaves to cherish fond memories, a loving and dedicated wife of the home; two loving children, Courtney and Javin Ammonds of the home; a niece, Hattie Mae Glover, whom he loved as a sister; three sisters-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

Jacob was really loved and will be greatly missed from visiting the sick at the nursing homes.

The funeral service will proceed as follows: 

The viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 21,2020 at Glover's Funeral Home from 12:00pm until 7:00pm. 

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 22,2020 at Glover's Funeral Home beginning at 11:00am.
