Isabell Johnson Sumpter was the daughter of the late Abraham Johnson, Sr. and Cannader Lewis Johnson. She was born in North South Carolina on April 30, 1953. She was called to eternal rest on March 30, 2021 following a tragic vehicle accident.
Isabell attended Wilkinson High School in Orangeburg, SC. She attended Job Corps where she obtained her Vocational Education Certification. Isabell demonstrated that life after a cancer diagnosis can be a reality, as she always kept busy with multiple employment adventures. Isabell was lastly employed at New Beginnings as a Health Care Aid.
Isabell was a dedicated and proud Servant Leader as well as a loyal member of Gospel Light Holiness Church of Sprinkle Avenue, Orangeburg, SC. Isabell’s selflessness and humility showed while she served as the Assistant Secretary for Gospel Light Holiness Church, Sunday School Leader, Devotional Service Leader, Bible Study Leader, as well as an active member of the Usher Board and Church Choir. Isabell was a fully devoted follower of Jesus, faithful in worship, fellowship and serving in the church’s ministries. She was a generous giver of tithes, offerings time and talents. Isabell was a faithful witness of the gospel to anyone and everyone that moves.
Isabell was preceded in death by both of her parents; sisters, Dorothy Johnson, Frances Snell; brothers Deacon Abraham Johnson, Jr., Henry Johnson and Herman Johnson.
Isabell will be missed by all who loved her, especially her children and grandchildren. She leaves to cherish her fond and loving memories, her children, Deirdre Melissa Johnson and Johnathan Maurice Johnson; grandchildren, Zhaequane Johnson, Treaquane Owens and Jevon Johnson; great-grandson, Jaleel Johnson; a Special Friend for many years, Herbert Sumpter; sisters, Pastor Mary Walker and Mazie Jamison both of Orangeburg, SC; one brother, Isiah “Ike” Johnson of Tacoma, Washington; a large loving family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends and coworkers.
The service will proceed as follows:
The viewing will be held on Friday, April 9,2021 at Glover's Funeral Home at 4:30pm until 7:00pm.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, April 10,2021 at Glover's Funeral Home beginning at 11:00am. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations. Services will be streamed live on our Facebook Page Glover's Funeral Home of Orangeburg.
