On September 13, 2022 at 3:00 a.m. God called one of His angels home. As Bubba laid there in that hospital bed, God tapped him on his shoulder and said “Son, it’s time to go!” Bubba responded “I’m not ready! I have so much to do! I have to take care of my wife and children! They need me!” God responded, “No need to explain, you have done all you need to do, a job well done! You are tired now so come with Me to rest.” HORACE (BUBBA) THOMAS was born on January 16, 1947 to Mrs. Adelle Thomas Polite and the late Bennie Shuler in Bowman, South Carolina. He attended Bethune Memorial High School, Class of 1966. On June 28, 1969 he was united in matrimony to Christine Shuler in Jersey City, NJ. From that union he had three loving children. He was preceded in death by two brothers Benjamin Shuler and Willie James Shuler and one sister, Eller Shuler Wright. He was employed with Owens Illinois, North Bergen, NJ. He relocated to Bowman, SC in 1971 where he worked driving trucks for Felder Trucking Company in Bowman SC. Bubba’s favorite past times were driving trucks, playing pool and fishing.
Bubba leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife of 53 years Christine; his loving mother, Adelle Polite; his loving three children, Carlton L. Thomas, Frasquita (Joseph) Davis, and Mark A. (Vernessa) Thomas of Orangeburg, SC; eleven grandchildren, DeAndre Zimmerman, Donovan Thomas, Tyler J. Davis, Samantha Davis, Octavia Thomas, Diamond Thomas, Corey Thomas, Siri Davis, Ravon Jackson, Simone Jackson, and Xavier Corley; six great-grand-children, Nailani T. Thomas, Kayson K Thomas, Reylon Jackson, Londyn Jackson, Zayveon Corley, and Andrea, BabyZimmerman; one loving brother, Ronnie (Gloria) Jenkins; three sisters, Shirlene Void, Joyce (Robert) Spells, and Marilyn Owens. Cherishing loving memories also include sisters-in-law, LillieBoyd, Ethel L. Shuler, Charlese Shuler, and Harriet Shuler; brothers-in-law, Robert Hammond and Robert Wright; aunts, Evelyn Glover, Emma Thomas, and Evelyn Thomas; and one uncle, Danny Thomas. He also had a special adopted granddaughter, Karymn Carter. A special niece who called daily to check on him, Mrs.Tyeisha Taylor. two special cousins who were always there for him. Kenny Berry and Gwendolyn Gilyard and a host of nieces,nephews, cousins, and friends.
The service will proceed as follows:
The viewing will be held on Friday, September 16,2022 at Glover's Funeral Home at 2:30pm until 8:00pm.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, September 17,2022 at Hickory Grove Missionary Baptist church beginning at 11:00am. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
