Horace E. Jacques

Mr. Horace Edward “Do Boy” Jacques was born on January 6, 1946 in Holly Hill, South Carolina to the late Singleton and Azalee Capers Jacques. On Saturday, May 29, 2021, he entered into his eternal rest at Veterans Victory House in Walterboro, SC.

Horace joined Greater Unity AME Church at an early age. He was educated in the Holly Hill Public School System. Horace joined the Army where he received the Vietnam Service Medal, three Bronze Service Stars, the National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, certification in Sharpshooter (Rifle) Education and Training and completed the CST in General Supply.

Horace worked at Amblers for 53 years. After his retirement, he enjoyed his grandkids. He loved working in the yard, gardening and his dog. He kept peace with everyone, loved the outdoors and his back porch.

He will be remembered for the love he had for others. He will give his last if you needed it. To those who knew him well he was know as “D Daddy” or “Big Daddy.”

Horace was preceded in death by his parents, Singleton and Azalee Capers Jacques; two sisters: Sarah L. White and Ossie Abraham; three brothers: Singleton Jacques, Jr., Samuel Lee and Ira Jacques.

He leaves to cherish fond memories his loving wife Rosa Jacques; two sons: Horace (Melinda) Jacques of Orangeburg, SC and Christopher Evans of North, SC; a daughter, Natasha Elliott of Columbia, SC, a stepdaughter, Margaret (John) Middleton of Santee, SC; two step-sons: Joel (Sharon) Bradley of Statesville, NC and Tyrone (Vicky) Bradley of Orangeburg, SC; five grandsons: Horace, Jr., Jeremiah, Isaiah, Eli and Ethan Jacques all of Orangeburg, SC; a grand- daughter, Armani Jones of Columbia, SC; eight step-grands: Fardentcyia (Alberto) Asbury, Jartrene (Byron) Hamilton, Tyzesha Shuler all of Orangeburg, SC, Quinton Bradley of Columbia, SC, William Bradley, Quenci Bradley and Tyrik Bradley all of NC and Mychal Bradley of NY; nine great- grands: three brothers: Lasalle (Verlene) Jacques and Eddie Jacques both of Orangeburg, SC, and Gourdine Jacques of Holly Hill, SC; three sisters-in-law: Rhodra (Curtis) Spells of Columbia, SC, Evelyn Thomas of White Plains, NY and Eartha Coulter of Orangeburg, SC and a host of nieces, nephews and other close relatives and dear friends.

The service will proceed as follows:

The viewing will be held on Friday, June 4,2021 at Glover's Funeral Home from 1:00pm-7:00pm.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, June 5,2021 at Glover's Funeral Home beginning at 11:00am. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
