Mr. Hercules "Herc" Benjamin 66, of 1360 Windsor Street, Orangeburg,SC died on March 7,2020 at his residence after an extended illness. He was the middle son of the late Sephus and Aldora Livingston Benjamin. His only brother, Sephus "Pop" Benjamin,Jr. also preceded him in death in 2012.
Herc began his life journey January 16,1954 in Orangeburg. He was educated in public schools, Riverside Elementary, Shaperson Junior High, Wilkinson High and Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School. After high school, he joined the United States Navy. While in the military, he worked as a medic and played basketball. After serving in the Navy, he lived awhile in Baltimore,Maryland and Littleton,North Carolina and later returned to Orangeburg,South Carolina.
Herc enjoyed life! His calm disposition and passive ways allowed him to get along with those he encountered. There were those times,when you could not get a word in. Herc loved the Lord and was spiritually fed by Bull Swamp Baptist Church and Faith Love and Restoration Outreach Ministry. To know him was to love him.
He leaves to cherish his memories his son: Terry(Kiya) Benjamin of Orangeburg,South Carolina; his daughter: Keisha L. Benjamin of Baltimore, Maryland; his sister: Carolyn King-Washington of Orangeburg,South Carolina; three grandchildren; a fiance: Mary Banks; a godmother: Gracie Thomas; two uncles, four aunts and a host of relatives.
The service will proceed as follows:
The viewing will be held Friday,March 13,2020 at Glover's Funeral Home at 1:00pm until 8:00pm.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday,March 14,2020 at Bull Swamp Baptist Church beginning at 1:30pm.
